Is PRP One of Tiger’s Secrets to Faster Healing?

Tiger Woods

– Last week, most people – even those who never watch golf, were glued to their TV screens in amazement that Tiger Woods was competing in the Masters. As he walked the course, and qualified for the cut, it was clear that we were witnessing something unfathomable.

On Feb. 23, 2021, shocking news spread like wildfire. Tiger Woods was in a one-car accident that nearly took his life. At the very least, it was feared he could lose his leg. At that time, his prospects of survival, overshadowed any concerns of whether or not he would golf again. But, in just 14 months since the accident, he survived, he walked, and he competed as only a true legend could.

Throughout his Masters weekend, reporters peppered Tiger with questions about his rehab and recovery. He humbly gave all the credit to his team saying they fixed whatever he broke down each day while playing. But, this is not Tiger’s first injury and it’s not his first comeback. He is a master at recovery. In fact, back in 2019, we posted an article about how several phenomenal athletes, including Tiger, have overcome what could have been career-ending injuries. One of their “secret weapons” to accelerate their healing was regenerative medicine.

Our Board-Certified Physicians, have been using PRP and other advanced regenerative medicine procedures to help our patients to enhance their recovery from injuries and to recover from age-related degenerative conditions.

So what is PRP and how could it be a “secret weapon” to help you heal?

PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma. PRP is a regenerative medicine treatment. Regenerative Medicine uses your body’s own natural and organic healing process to boost the repair of damaged or deteriorated tissue. PRP is a type of regenerative medicine treatment and stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) uses the healing components in your own blood cells to accelerate the healing process.

Our blood naturally contains healing factors, such as white blood cells and growth factors that are vital to tissue regeneration and repair. When these healing components are isolated in a sample of your blood, they can then (in concentrated form with about 7x your body’s normal amount of healing factors) be injected back into areas of your body where needed, to repair and renew damaged tissue. PRP treatment can provide faster and more complete healing using your body’s own natural healing factors.

Platelet-rich plasma therapy can help injured joints and other problems. It uses parts of your own blood to reduce pain and speed up healing. Many professional athletes, in all sports, have used regenerative medicine to repair injuries and reduce pain, naturally, even TIGER WOODS!
