Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
Certified by the National Osteoporosis Foundation

Kathryn Trojan, NP has been working in healthcare since 2002. She earned her Bachelor’s in Nursing from Eastern Illinois Lakeview College of Nursing and her Masters-in-Science in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University. Her clinical skills include adult geriatric, women’s health, pediatric medicine, and pain management. Katie also received additional training in the detection, management, and treatment of osteoporosis, and is certified by the National Osteoporosis Foundation. She also has experience working on task forces, change projects, and leadership roles.  Katie prides herself on using evidence-based practices.  She has worked in Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care and has taught nursing at the college level.

Katie is passionate about advanced practice nursing because, working the ER and ICU environment, she saw patients that were very sick and in the back of her mind thought, “This could have been prevented.” She is especially attracted to working with patients that have limited access to healthcare. Her clinical interests include preventative care and management of both common and complex medical conditions and pain management.

She values building relationships and believes that patient education and good communication between the healthcare provider and patient are the keys to delivering optimum healthcare.  She takes the time to listen to her patients and really understand their concerns.  Katie believes in partnering with the patients and encouraging them to take an active role in their healthcare.

In her free time, Katie enjoys going to sporting events to root for the White Sox, Bears, Blackhawks, and Bulls.  She is a member of the American Association of Nurses, Illinois Society of Advanced Practice Nurses and the Coalition of Advanced Practice Nurses of Indiana.
