Profile

Dr. Bonynge served in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard for six years while pursuing his undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP) in 2021. He then completed his residency training in Emergency Medicine at UICOMP, graduating in 2024. During his training, he developed a strong interest in interventional spine and pain management, focusing on building long-term patient relationships through compassionate, personalized care. Dr. Bonynge completed his fellowship at the University of Iowa, where he graduated in 2025. Dr. Bonynge is board eligible.

Hobbies/Special Interests

In his spare time, Dr. Bonynge prioritizes personal health and fitness through activities such as hiking, swimming, rock climbing, and competitive powerlifting. He enjoys spending time at home with his family and three pets (two cats and a dog) as well as watching movies and playing video games. An avid PC gamer, he has built custom computers on multiple occasions. Lastly, Dr. Bonynge and his family enjoy traveling, and exploring new adventures and cuisines. Recent trips include visits to several National parks in Colorado and Utah, as well as international backpacking through Thailand.

Professional Achievements

During his fellowship, Dr. Bonynge treated patients with a wide range of chronic pain conditions, including neck pain, back pain, extremity pain, and visceral pain. He has a special interest in peripheral nerve stimulation and is well-versed in advanced procedures and injections using fluoroscopic and ultrasound guidance. He continues to collaborate with experts in the field to utilize the latest technologies and evidence-based procedures to improve patient outcomes. Dr. Bonynge believes in listening carefully to each patient’s unique needs to develop personalized treatment plans to improve function and quality of life.
