Meet Our Board Certified Physicians

 

Dr. Shaun Kondamuri, MD

Shaun Kondamuri, MD, has been practicing Interventional Pain Management since completing his fellowship in pain management in 1995.  He has been the Managing Director of Midwest Interventional Spine Specialists since its inception in 1996.  He also serves as medical director of the Pain Center of St. Mary Medical Center. He is triple Board Certified in Internal Medicine (1991), Anesthesiology (1996), and Pain Medicine (1998) with Subspecialty Certification in Pain Medicine (2003, 2014) from the American Board of Anesthesiology.  He is an expert in non-surgical care for spine pain. Dr. Kondamuri regularly participates in research trials and works with the most advanced techniques and state-of-the-art technology for the treatment and management of pain.

Dr. Kondamuri completed his fellowship in Pain Management at Yale University.  He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at University of Stony Brook where he was also the Senior Team Leader.

He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College.  He graduated from M.K.C.G. Medical College ranked 1st in his class and also holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.

Dr. Kondamuri has held academic appointments at Yale University and the University of Stony Brook and is currently a clinical instructor at Indiana University School of Medicine.  He has authored and published many scientific and general articles, and frequently lectures on spine care and pain management related topics.

 

 

Dr. Satish Dasari, MD

Dr. Dasari has been with Midwest Interventional Spine Specialists since 2002. He is Board Certified in Pain Medicine and Anesthesiology. He has practiced pain management on a full-time basis for over 15 years.

Dr. Dasari received his medical degree from Gunter Medical College in 1981. He served as a Research Scientist at MIT in 1982. He entered his internship at Bay State Medical Center in 1983. He completed his Anesthesia Residency in 1986 and followed with a Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine and Cardiac Anesthesia. He then completed an additional Fellowship at Harvard Medical School from 1987-1988.

He has served as Medical Director of Pain Management at St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Centers. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology and the American Board of Pain Medicine.

In 2004, Dr. Dasari became the first physician in Northwest Indiana to be conferred the title of Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice.

 

 

Dr. Vijay Gupta, MD

Dr. Gupta is Board Certified in Anesthesiology and Board Eligible in Pain Medicine. He completed his residency in General Surgery at E.N.T. in 1974 from Irwin & G.B. Pant Hospitals in Delhi, India. He finished his Fellowship in Anesthesiology/Pain Medicine in 1981 from Rush Presbyterian St Luke’s Medical Center, Chicago.

Dr. Gupta was an instructor at Rush Presbyterian and the Assistant Professor and Chief of Anesthesia at Olympia Fields Osteopathic Medical Center. He started the first pain clinic at Olympia Fields Osteopathic Medical Center in 1981 and at St. Margaret Mercy Hospital, Dyer, Indiana, in 1985.

Dr. Gupta’s expertise in fluoroscopically guided injection therapy, medical management, and integration of Yoga for managing chronic pain, has benefitted thousands of patients.

 

 

Dr. Saveen Kondamuri, MD

Dr. Saveen Kondamuri has been with Midwest Interventional Spine Specialists for over 8 years. He practices pain management and anesthesiology.

Dr. Kondamuri completed his medical residency at the University of Pittsburgh Shadyside Hospital in 1993. He completed his Fellowship in Pain Management at Cook County Hospital and completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Cook County Hospital in 1996. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology and a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

Dr. Kondamuri has a special interest in axial low back and lumbar radiculopathy. He is well versed in the use of the latest injection techniques utilizing fluoroscopic guidance.

 

 

Dr. Nikhil Shetty, MD

Dr. Shetty is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine (2012). He completed both his Internship and Residency at Oakland University – William Beaumont Hospital. His internship focus was in Internal Medicine. His Residency encompassed Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Shetty’s Fellowship work specialized in Interventional Pain and Spine including Regenerative Medicine and PRP treatments.
