Dr. Bonynge originally served in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard, where he served for 6 years while pursuing his undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Bonynge went to medical school and graduated from University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP) in 2021. He then completed his residency training in emergency medicine also at UICOMP and graduated in 2024. During that time he became interested in interventional spine and pain medicine as a way to build longer lasting relationships with patients while truly helping them through care and compassion. He pursued his fellowship at the University of Iowa, where he graduated in 2025. Dr. Bonynge is Board-Eligible in both Emergency Medicine and Pain Medicine.
Specializations
During fellowship, Dr. Bonynge worked with patients with a variety of chronic pain conditions including chronic neck pain, back pain, extremity pain, and visceral pain. He has taken a special interest in peripheral nerve stimulation and is well-versed in a variety of procedures and injections using fluoroscopic and ultrasound guidance. He is continuing to work with experts in the field in order to find the latest technologies and procedures to best help his patients. Dr. Bonynge believes in listening to patients thoroughly to work through their individual needs and wants in order to provide the best treatment options available in order to improve functioning and quality of life.
Extra Activities
In his spare time, Dr. Bonynge has a vested interest in his personal health and fitness through a variety of physical activities including hiking, swimming, rock climbing, and even competitive powerlifting. He spends time at home with his family and his three pets (two cats and a dog) and enjoys movies, video games, and TV shows. He is an avid PC gamer and has built a custom computer on multiple occasions. Lastly, Dr. Bonynge and his family love to travel, experiencing new adventures and food along the way, recently traveling both domestically through several National parks throughout Colorado and Utah and internationally by backpacking through Thailand.
