A Message to Our Patients from Our Medical Director …

Patient and staff safety is a top priority at Midwest Interventional Spine Specialists. We are also keenly aware that for patients who are struggling with severe chronic pain, the services we provide are truly essential.

Still, this is a challenging time for patients and practitioners. As we all do our part to follow ever-changing CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19, stress and anxiety can quickly become overwhelming. So, we want our patients to know what we are doing to provide urgent pain relief treatment while maintaining a safe and protected environment.

Last month, we started to provide Tele-Visits for our current patients. Our nurse practitioners and doctors have been able to check-in on our patients and order necessary prescription refills and advise patients who have chronic pain, but because of Covid-19 cannot receive normal treatment.

Pain Treatment
We realize that some of our current patients and new patients may be in need of a treatment to address an urgent pain issue. In order to offer care in these situations, we are providing a limited amount of in-office appointments. We have expanded our every-day safety procedures with extra precautions to protect our patients and staff.

Safety Procedures
First, our entire office is cleaned and disinfected multiple times throughout the day. Our entire staff follows all CDC guidelines for safety and prevention. All staff members are also health-screened before starting their workday. We are also screening any patients before providing an in-office appointment.

No patient may visit our office if:

  • You, or someone you have been in contact with, have traveled outside the U.S. in the past month

  • You have been in contact with anyone diagnosed with, or suspected of having, Covid-19

  • If you have had (or have been in contact with anyone who has had), a fever (99.5⁰F or above), a cough or sore throat, or shortness of breath in the past month

We are also checking temperatures for any patient that arrives, before check-in and maintaining distance guidelines. Accompanying family members are asked to wait outside the office, or in their car. The only exceptions will be situations where patients have mobility issues.

We remain committed to providing vital pain relief treatment to our patients. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we work together to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

To schedule a Tele-visit or to request an in-office evaluation call our office at (219) 836-7246.

Stay safe and healthy.

Take Care,

Shaun Kondamuri, MD
