Pain Awareness MonthSeptember is Pain Awareness Month –

But the truth is …

One of the most significant health awareness campaigns we focus on in the month of September is pain awareness. But the truth is, if you’re one of the over 50 million Americans who suffer with chronic pain, Pain Awareness month may seem pointless. If you’re experiencing pain, then you’re already well aware of how it can impact your life and limit your options. Chronic pain can persist for months, or even years. So, for you, every month might be pain awareness month.

However, the good news is that every day progress is made in developing safer, less invasive, and more effective treatments to eliminate or significantly reduce pain levels. We have seen, first hand, how some treatments have yielded truly life changing results. Two great examples of the latest innovations are the MILD procedure to treat lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) and the PainTEQ® LinQ™  procedure to treat Sacroiliac (SI) joint pain.  To see how these new treatment options have had life-changing impact on our patients, you can watch their stories on our YouTube page at: https://www.youtube.com/@midwestinterventionalspine7836/videos.

There is another important message we would like to share with anyone who is experiencing pain. Most people in the U.S. are comfortable with taking non-prescription over-the-counter medication to alleviate their pain. This may be the best solution for occasional spurts of minor pain discomfort especially when the cause of the pain is known. However, most people don’t have a clear understanding about when they should talk to a doctor and seek a medical evaluation for their pain. Some of the situations that require medical evaluation include:

  • Pain from an injury
  • The onset of chronic pain (pain that persists for 3 months or more)
  • Pain that starts to affect your activities or relationships
  • Pain that affects you emotionally
  • Pain that affects your ability to work
  • And pain that suddenly gets worse

Getting an accurate diagnosis and knowing the true cause of your pain, is essential so that you can receive the most appropriate treatment recommendation. We have helped thousands of patients to eliminate their pain and we are here to help you too!
