The Chicago Marathon Made Possible by M.I.S.S.

We are so excited to share that one of the members of Team M.I.S.S. will be running the Chicago Marathon tomorrow. We are so proud of our seasoned marathoner, Lori Watta. This will be Lori’s 5th Chicago marathon and 9th marathon overall. And while Lori is an amazing inspiration to everyone at M.I.S.S., running marathons wasn’t always a given.

In fact, Lori is also a patient of M.I.S.S. (Midwest Interventional Spine Specialists) and it was the minimally invasive treatment she received for stabbing sciatica pain, caused by a prior injury, that gave her the pain relief so that her dreams of being a marathoner were possible. Our specialists encouraged her to increase her activity level after treatment. For our patients, we are thrilled for them to return to pre-pain activity levels. For Lori, her progress and pain relief fueled her drive to achieve even more.

The Chicago Marathon is extra special for Lori, since it was her first full marathon. Lori shared, “…every year that I run the Chicago Marathon, the crowds are great. The support that you receive along the course is also wonderful. It is also special to be able to be in a marathon with my group of running friends.”

Lori has finished every marathon she has started and is always doing amazing things to inspire her co-workers at M.I.S.S. Her words of wisdom for anyone who is struggling with pain, or on the road to recovery, “…just take one step at a time, and then a mile at a time. Everybody can do hard things.”

Go Lori!
